What To Consider When Selecting A Wind Resistant Light Pole
When selecting a light pole, it is critical to consider the wind speed rating of the geographic location. Coastal areas, like Florida, have extreme weather conditions like intense winds and hurricanes. Investing in high wind-resistant light poles is essential for projects in these locations, as strong, durable light poles can prevent safety risks, including falling light poles and damage to surrounding infrastructure. For your project, there are several key factors to consider when selecting a high wind-resistant light pole.
Select A Light Pole For Your Wind Rating
Your project will need a light pole that can withstand the toughest conditions in regions that are prone to severe weather. Our Eos Light Pole series is engineered for a wide range of EPAs and wind zones, making it an excellent choice for high-wind speed locations.

Light Pole Durability and Material
When deciding on a light pole, the material will impact its ability to withstand harsh environments. Our Hyperia Light Poles are designed to handle the toughest conditions along our shoreline and look incredible doing so. Our fiberglass light poles are engineered for strength, durability, flexibility, and are seamlessly crafted. Fiberglass light poles are not only wind resistant but are minimal maintenance due to their lack of corrosion, pitting, and other forms of wear and tear, making it perfect for coastal regions. Light Pole Installation and Foundation
The structural integrity of the light pole is incredibly important, making the installation and foundation critical to its strength. Depending on the wind speed of the region, you will want to consider either an anchor base or direct burial. You may also need engineering calcs and recommended bury depth in Florida. We have an engineer on retainer that can certify our light poles in Florida, ask us for details on this service.

- Anchor Base installation: Requires a physical template from Hyperia Light Poles and are installed with either 18”, 24”, or 36” J-leg anchor bolts (new construction). Size of bolts and
base are determined by the pole you choose. With the paper template you would make a plywood version for supporting the bolts as they set in the concrete foundation in the right location.
